FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

Can my vehicle haul my bike with a hitch mount motorcycle carrier?

It varies depending on your vehicle's towing capacity and the weight of your motorcycle.

Find out if you can haul your bike with your vehicle and which MotoTote carrier works best for you with our Fit Calculator.

To calculate the maximum weight your vehicle can haul on a hitch, divide your vehicle's towing capacity by 10, then subtract the weight of the MotoTote.

(For example: 5,000 / 10 = 500. 500 - 62 = 438. In this case, a vehicle with 5,000 lbs towing capacity can haul a motorcycle up to 438 lbs.)

How do you secure a motorcycle to a motorcycle hauler?

To tie down to a motorcycle hauler, you will need three tie-down straps. Using two tie-downs, loop and hook the straps around each handlebar and then down to each side of the front tie-down arm. This will wedge the motorcycle in place and provide the stability for the motorcycle. Then with the remaining strap or a specialty tire sling, loop the strap over or through the rear tire. This will prevent the rear tire from jumping out, keeping the motorcycle in place on the motorcycle hauler.

What other products do you recommend with a MotoTote motorcycle rack?

MotoTote motorcycle racks come with everything except tie-downs. Tie-downs are required to secure your motorcycle to MotoTote motorcycle rack. For large motorcycles that block vehicle tail lights, we recommend a light kit to extend the light functions to the MotoTote motorcycle hauler. For additional recommendations for your motorcycle, shop by bike type.

Are MotoTote motorcycle carriers worth it?

Value is subjective, but to MotoTote, it has always meant superior motorcycle haulers that will stand up to the demands of the road and heavy hauling for years to come.

For our motorcycle haulers, we focus on the details; quality, stability, and security - to remove our customer's concerns about the safety of their motorcycle in transit - which we think is worth every penny. Also, unlike our competitors, our hitch mount motorcycle carriers are modular, and parts can be replaced, so your MotoTote motorcycle hauler can last a lifetime. We also provide lifetime support and are here for any questions you have.

Where are MotoTote motorcycle racks made?

All MotoTote motorcycle hitch carriers are carefully crafted in Texas, either entirely made or finished and assembled with imported parts.

Why MotoTote Motorcycle Carriers?

For more than 25 years, MotoTote has built stable, secure motorcycle hitch carriers for everything from dirt bikes to heavy street bikes. Every motorcycle hauler is purpose-built for the ride.

Secure by Design: Motorcycle-specific tracks and wheel stops are sized for different tires and wheelbases, while wide tie-down arms help keep your bike secure and stable.

Stability Where It Matters: ZeroWobble+ technology and engineered tie-down geometry help reduce movement at the hitch and across the motorcycle.

Made for Years of Hauling: Quality construction, replaceable components, and lifetime support make MotoTote motorcycle haulers a long-term hauling solution.

The Easiest Way to Haul Your Motorcycle

A MotoTote motorcycle hitch carrier provides stable, purpose-built transport without the hassle of a motorcycle trailer or pickup bed.

Unlike general-purpose or overengineered carriers, MotoTote combines secure wheel support, wide tie-down arms, and reduced wobble in a simple, adjustable, modular design.

Motorcycle Trailer

Takes up more storage space, is harder to maneuver, and may require registration and additional toll costs.

Pickup Bed

Harder to load and unload, requires an open bed, and leaves less room for gear or accessories.

Over-Engineered Carrier

Overly complex, adding cost and failure points without solving real problems — not adjustable, modular, or built with replaceable parts.

General Carrier

Built around price, with less wheel support, fewer secure tie-down points, greater loading risk, and more wobble.
